I recently moved my rp48 module to a different usb slot then back to its original slot only to discover that now it won't connect to the pc at all or show on the GF config page although it is getting power as all the led's remain on constantly. any ideas whats up ?
Does anything else work in the USB slot? Did you handle the module itself or just the plug? I'm thinking maybe some static discharge???

"is static discharge another term for never work again???" No... I sometimes brush against my console and feel a shock and the GF45 just resets itself. I've never had a module "die" from static.
Have you tried a different USB cable from the module to the PC??? Other than that, I can't think of anything else.

yip m8 i've tried different cables its just funny that the same thing has happened to two modules now. I recently installed a reg copy of fsuipc do you think this would cause a conflict of any type with the GF software. The modules are getting power, but the PC wont pick up the fact that they are plugged in. My other modules seem to be working fine including my MCP Pro, radio and throttle quadrants. very strange. Thankyou anyway.
USB slots and gizzmo's can be a bit "techie" if you don't disable them or eject them correctly :(
Did you just pull the plug out of the slot ???
This is certainly an issue with USB flash drives ~~~ I always (after learning the hard way) eject the drive or device using the task bar info - right-click icon - one of my "friends" just pulled a drive out of my PC-slot and now it "can't" be recognised on that PC but is OK on another PC and lap-top. With my GF units I always switch the computer OFF before pulling any units out.
good thought very much a definitely maybe but doesn't plug and play mean just that? The PC was switched off, I was just tidying up the cables.. its a bit of a puzzle. will post if I find an answer.thank you for taking the time to reply. I will try the units on a different PC! and re-install the unit drivers. Maybe see if using FSUIPC alone will make any difference.
Anything that acts like a "drive" does need to be ejected. This does not apply in the case of GF modules. I do think there maybe a software conflict somewhere... Without knowing your setup it's tough to say. FSUIPC wouldn't create a conflict regarding "detection". My guess is maybe Windows is getting confused. My first thought is to unplug the offending modules. Reboot a couple times. Then plugin the modules and reboot a couple times. There maybe some kind of confusion between Windows and the motherboard???

Thank you will give it a try, think that might be the route to follow and explore for now will let u guys know how i get on. using win xp sp3. PC is not hi spec by today's standard at all and i know I'm already asking a bit too much from it (poor thing). duel core processor 4 gb ram 2x 1 gig graphics cards (Nvidia and ATI), needs must eh!!. This little beaut is some how managing to run 4 gf modules, mcp pro, throttle quadrant and with the help of a splitter box, 4 monitors and an over head projector, don't know how it hasn't exploded before now. I have, via a great friend and flightsim project partner Dav, got a second PC of similar spec. The Idea was to install fswide and take some of the strain off. Will try to post some pics of our progress so far. Cheers from, Northern Ireland
