MCP PRO and NGX

I have the MCP Pro for a while now and I haven't have a use for it so far, I spent and lot of money but I'm disappointed, I have A25 and It's not working with PMDG 747 what a shame, no serial number. Now the NGX SKD is released and I hope since the MCP pro is 737 panel and the NGX is the best 737 simulation out there, they should upgrade the driver and make it work with pmdg NGX, other wise whats the point of having this expensive pieace of hardware that just collecting dust on my desk.

  • excuse my english, but what dose getting organized mean ? support for the NGX in the future might be coming ?.

    Thanks.
  • I have a GF MCP-Pro with A25 firmware at it is working fine with the PMDG737NGX. Go to PMDG Forum and locate post by Steve Munn or email him at smunn@btopenworld.com.

He has written LUA script which resides in FSX/Module with the latest FSUIPC, simple to install but you must have A25 firmware. You must have the current GF Software 2.30

  • Will this work with the latest ngx sp1c
Also will it work with EFIS ?

    Thanks
  • I don't know anything about LUA scripts. To bad GF products won't plug and play with NGX now that the SDK is out. Does GF plan to utilize the PMDG NGX SDK to make this compatible ?
  • Yes that's exactly my point. We hope to hear an answer.
  • Hi Evanbanalian,

Yes it works with upto 2 EFIS and the MCP or MCP PRO. It will work with any firmware version but needs a registered version of FSUIPC v4.805 which you can get here http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/

I'm happy to assist people to get it working via email and have done on a few occasions.

I hope GoFlight produce something, but I have just read they don't intend to. If someone can confirm this, I'll write something in C so that its faster and more plug and play, but I don't want to put in all that effort for GoFlight to end up producing something. The LUA script was only meant to be an temp solution until GoFlight produced something.

    Best wishes

    Steve

  • How do I determine what firmware I have on the MCP PRO ?
  • Hi steve thanks for the help, I would love the help, I have FSUIPC registered and If you please send me what I need to me e-mails with some details how to work it that would be really great.

  • airwolfe,  when you first plug in the USB cable to the MCP the firmware version will show in the Course window.

  • OK, so what's the bottom line, is GF going to develop a driver or not?
  • It completely baffles me, but it seems they won't. Thank heavens for Steveo's efforts.

I do hope they change their mind.

    Hello everyone,

It appears things have gotten a little out of hand with the PMDG and GoFlight integration.  We are investigating this further, and have sent messages to PMDG to try to rectify this.

We are looking into producing something to solve this.  Sorry for the inconveniences.

    Tony Varela
  • That sounds encouraging.

  • Good, I see no reason why software and hardware developers have any reason not to work together to have a fully supported product, at the end we spend our hard working money on software, hardware.. etc and we expect   future support. I also like to see a way to fix the serial issue with A25 so we can enjoy our PMDG 747.

    Thanks.

    Evan
  • Interesting comment from Robert Randazzo, owner of PMDG, on their forums:

"As it is obvious...that GoFlight has a relatively loose relationship with the truth, we strongly encourage our customers to avoid the purchase of any products from GoFlight. During our occasional interaction with GoFlight we have learned through various sources that the company is poorly run, unconcerned with quality control, and generally more interested in securing your purchase money than they are with supporting their product after the sale.

It is unfortunate, but our experience trying to support them has lead us to the same conclusion....

There are other hardware manufacturers out there- so we encourage you to support them instead!"

I have the Go Flight MCP Pro and the EFIS with a srl number and a firm ware that is slightly old.. Maybe A19 or 21. and it works great with PMDG 747. no freeze etc.

But for me to use it with the 737 NG, I need to update my firmware to 25? I don't want to lose the srl number.

Would not the LUA script work with the old firmware?

Heron1B says, it needs firmware A25. But Steve says ". It will work with any firmware version"

    sheesh! Its all confusing!

    Can anyone clarify this.

    Manny

  • The LUA script, and the shortly to be released driver (also written by Steve), should work with any MCP PRO firmware.

  • Steve has just released a new GoFlightPMDG NGX Interface, download from AVSIM.

This is completely different from Steve's earlier LUA script version and will work with earlier GF firmware. Simple to install provided you read and follow the enclose directions to the letter. The Interface resides inside the GF directory. Both the MCP-Pro and EFIS function perfectly.

    Cheers,

    Delf

  • GF, as well as the community at large, owes a tremendous amount of gratitude to Steve's generous donation of time and effort in this project.

It may well halt the potential rout of NGX users, from GF.

  • Orest, Steve is the primary reason for my recent purchase of Goflight MCP & EFIS. Tony at Goflight needs to give a big thankyou to Steve IMHO, for all his time and effort. Steve has answered all my concerns very fast and in detail. A huge help, given all the issues with Goflight and PMDG. I would otherwise still be watching and waiting  after reading all of the posted headaches.

A suggestion to Tony and the gang would be to ask Steve if it would be OK to put that file on this site for download
  • Hi,

For those of you not aware, I have developed a driver that links GoFlight hardware to the PMDG NGX. It currently supports EFIS, MCP PRO, P8's, T8's and RP48's. MESM, WP6 and MCP support will come later. All GoFlight LED's can be lit based on actual NGX state data, its not just for assigning commands.

Its currently a version 2 Beta and is available to download at AVSIM in the file library.

Support is available in the PMDG forum at Avsim here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/367505-goflight-pmdg-driver-now-available/page__pid__2354076__st__100#entry2354076

    Best wishes Steve.
